My last week in Iowa.
Not to pull the random SOB story out or anything, but this academic school year here in Ames certainly has been an interesting one. For anyone who knows me, and especially those who are from Hinsdale, it would be needless to say how different Ames is from Home. But for the past eight months, even I have grown to appreciate little Ames. Here are some things that I will want to remember about this school year (This is going to be really, really long… So don’t feel inclined to read it.):
-Going out with Destiny, Julie, and Chelsea the first few weeks of school. The “Apron Girls”, “Bra-Underwear-Heels”-Chick, Geek Squad, and coining the name “Tomates.”
-When I puked on some guy who ended up walking me home. That was potentially a very bad situation, but I thankfully learned my lesson and have been very good since.
-Going to visit MN over Labor Day. Cute walks around St. Paul, Sakura, and hanging out at the MOA.
-Our first football game. Destiny and I had no idea what was going on, so we started trying to pick up guys. Good thing Destiny was so good at it, because the only guy I ended up picking up had a GIRLFRIEND.
-Serious shopping trip with Anthony in Des Moines. Laying out under the stars, walking around cute bridges and sitting by rivers.
-Joining hip-hop club for 1 day. HIGHLY unsuccessful.
-Making those GOD FORSAKEN paper pliers! That was the beginning of the chain of All-nighters to follow during the semester with my GF Cherrie.
-Going to Hickory Park and The Little Taipei with Cherrie. Only one of our SEVERAL fantastic dates.
-My long and romantic dates with my other lover, Destiny. Going out in our matching vest / headband outfits. Meeting Spartan and going to that house with a bar in the basement.
-Going to Windom to meet Anthony’s parents. What an interesting experience. PS. I love his parents. Also, going to the St. Paul Art Crawl with his parents was WAY cute. And telling Anthony that he had to get a hair cut in the elevator. And hanging out with his parents during SB. They are so cute. I am going to miss them.
-Playing badminton and having girltalk with BFF Zogg.
-Going to Calc II with Matt and Brad Monday-Thursday. And having Jake as our teacher.
-Being twenty minutes late to our formal critique for 102. I was a douchebag and slept in too late.
-The Car Accident that we could have died in. Scary shit.
-VEISHA!- Getting surprised by a visit from Anthony, and losing my wallet, and seeing thousands and thousands of people around campus.
-Getting an A+ on my speech about being short. YAY!
-Having our “Final” dinner with Destiny at Hickory Park. And sitting outside in the sun. I CAN’T BELIEVE YOU’RE LEAVING!
That is all that I can think of right now. But it certainly has been a very eventful year. There are some people and memories that I will unquestionably miss.
And DESTINY COMBS: I will seriously stalk you if you don’t come visit me all the time next semester. Yea. I said it.
Now I have to calculate my Calc II grade.
LOVE,
Rachel
